Confidentiality and Privacy

I thrive to maintain vigilance regarding the confidential nature of my work with clients. At my solo practice, I maintain paper treatment records. I store contact, forms and billing information on my personal computer, which is backed up on my own hard drive. I do not share information electronically unless you specify it on a consent for release and exchange of information form.

I do use email for scheduling purposes, but only at the initiation and request of client. I insist client refrain from use of electronic means (email, text) to communicate treatment needs or conditions.

I will not share information with third parties regarding my clients without their express consent.

Missed Sessions

I charge my full fee for all cancelled or missed sessions unless I am notified at least 24 hours in advance. Exceptions are made in the case of dire and serious medical illness or family emergencies. On days of inclement snow, freezing rain weather that makes for hazardous driving, I make every effort to reach my scheduled clients in the morning to clarify if session can take place as planned.

I understand that human and computer errors can interfere with people’s intentions to keep their appointments. From my years in the field, I have seen a familiar trait of client missing sessions due to unconscious resistance or ambivalence about maintaining appointment. I strongly recommend taking advantage of these opportunities to work through barriers that can lead to immense freedom from constraints (ambivalence, apathy, etc) and increase interpersonal effectiveness by keeping reserved time with me.

Telephone / Email

I make every effort to return calls within 24 hours. When leaving a voice message, please provide a concise description of the purpose of your call and please leave a phone number and suggested time frame for reaching you. In the event of an emergency, please note that this number is to be use by established client ONLY in the case of a true emergency.

Email is a convenient and reliable way of reaching me for scheduling purposes only. If I don’t respond to your email within 48 hours, please assume that it did not reach me, and please leave a voice message.
